From the Sea to Entrepreneurship: Panipan Pansang on Building with Purpose
From growing up near the sea in southern Thailand to studying business in the United States, Panipan Pansang is turning years of maritime experience into a new chapter in entrepreneurship.

For Panipan, the maritime industry has always felt close to home.
Growing up in southern Thailand, he was surrounded by the sea and a family involved in the seafood distribution business. From an early age, he saw the ocean as more than a natural environment. It supported businesses, transportation, trade, and the communities around him.
That connection eventually led him to study Nautical Science and begin a career that would take him from marine surveying and vessel operations to sales and, eventually, entrepreneurship.
One experience in particular stayed with him: standing on the bridge of a large commercial vessel for the first time.
“I felt excited, but I also began to understand the responsibility behind operating a vessel.”
Every decision, he realized, could affect not only the people onboard, but also cargo, schedules, and businesses thousands of miles away.
Learning Beyond the Vessel
Working across different areas of the maritime industry gave Panipan a broader understanding of how much coordination happens behind every operation.
As a marine surveyor, precision mattered. Onboard a vessel, plans had to work under real conditions. Later, working in marine sales taught him that even a successful transaction meant little if the right product did not reach the vessel when it was actually needed.
Those experiences changed the way he approached problems.

“Today, I begin by asking not, ‘What can we sell?’ but, ‘What operational problem are we solving, and what could happen if we get it wrong?’”
For Panipan, good maritime work is not simply about completing a task. It is about understanding how each decision affects the larger operation.
Building Seaborn Around Trust
That mindset eventually became part of the inspiration behind Seaborn Maritime Solutions.
Through his experience, Panipan noticed that maritime operations often involve many different people and organizations working together. The challenge was not always finding someone who could provide a service. Sometimes, the bigger problem was fragmented communication and uncertainty about who was responsible for what.
He began developing Seaborn with the goal of connecting international vessel operators with maritime service providers in Thailand and Southeast Asia.

But for Panipan, growth is not about trying to offer everything.
“I do not want Seaborn to claim that it can do everything. I want it to be accountable for every service it accepts.”
That idea, accountability before expansion, has become an important part of how he thinks about building the company.
From Operator to Business Builder
Today, Panipan is pursuing an MBA in the United States while continuing to develop his professional career and vision for Seaborn.
He describes the transition simply:
“My maritime background taught me how to complete an operation. My MBA is teaching me how to build an organization that can deliver that result consistently.”
Studying business has encouraged him to look beyond whether an operation was completed successfully. He now thinks more about costs, strategy, risk, quality control, and how a business can create systems that work consistently over time.
Moving from Thailand to the United States has also meant adapting to a new environment, building new professional relationships, and learning to work across cultures.
Through that experience, one lesson has become especially important:
“Credibility must come before growth.”
Rather than expanding faster than the company can maintain its standards, Panipan wants Seaborn to grow gradually while protecting the trust of its clients.
Returning to Where It Started
Looking ahead, Panipan hopes to build a stronger network of maritime professionals and service providers across Thailand and Southeast Asia, while eventually using technology to give clients faster and clearer access to operational information.
But despite where his career has taken him, his story continues to return to where it began.

“My journey began as a child growing up near the sea in southern Thailand. It later took me across oceans as a seafarer, and today it is leading me toward building an organization that helps vessels, ports, and people work together more effectively.”
For Panipan, the next chapter is not simply about how large Seaborn can become. It is about how it grows and the principles it keeps along the way: accountability, accuracy, and creating value people can experience in practice.
